Check it works
One minute and you will know for sure. We also explain why the usual IP checkers show your real address, and why that is normal.
Quick check
Turn the VPN on in the app and wait until the button stops saying it is connecting.
Open safemoneyvpn.com/ip/. It is our own page and shows the address you reached us from.
A country that is not yours means it works. Your own country means the app has not connected yet: check the button and try another location.
On iPhone a VPN label appears at the top of the screen, on Android a key icon, on Windows the app icon in the tray. No badge means the tunnel is not up yet and there is nothing to check.
Why an IP checker may show your real address
That is not a fault, it is how the service is built. Russian sites go around the tunnel with your normal address, so your bank does not treat the login as suspicious and local sites do not slow down on a detour abroad. Russian IP checkers fall into the same category and honestly show your home address even with the VPN on.
So check your address where the traffic really does go through the tunnel: on safemoneyvpn.com/ip/ or any non-Russian service such as ipinfo.io. More about the split on Locations & speed.
Full checklist
If you want to be sure everything works, not just the tunnel itself:
| What to check | What you should see |
|---|---|
| VPN badge in the system | Present |
| Our address page | Shows a country that is not yours |
| A site abroad that used to be blocked | Opens |
| Banking or government sites | Work, no need to turn the VPN off |
| Video in high quality | Starts without a long warm-up |
Measuring speed
A speed test only means something as a comparison: measure with the VPN on and off, on the same device and the same network. Most of the time the bottleneck is your home or mobile connection rather than the server. More on Locations & speed.
If something does not add up
Start with the server status page: it shows whether the sites and the dashboard are up. If status looks fine, the symptom by symptom guide is on Troubleshooting.
